If you enjoy tasting microbrewery beer, there’s no better place to drive your Toyota car than to Philadelphia.
Philadelphia has a long history of brewing beer. At the time of the War for Independence, there was one tavern for every man in the town. In the nineteenth century, Philadelphia was famous for being one of the greatest brewing cities in North America.
Today, a variety of microbreweries are reclaiming the city’s heritage as a beer brewing town. Here’s a look at some of the breweries in Philadelphia:
Independence Brew Pub
This brewery is located at 1150 Filbert Street, and features its own Kolsh, Red Ale, Cask-conditioned Ale, Oatmeal Stout and Indian Pale Ale
Iron Hill brewery
This Brewery and restaurant originated in Newark, Deleware. The brewery has two gold medals and three bronze medals for its beer, including its famous Bourbon Russian, a barrel-aged beer.
The London Grill
The London Grill in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia serves hand-pumped microbrews in addition to Stoudts-brewed Willie Sutton Ale, named after an infamous former resident of the neighboring Eastern State Penitentiary.
McKenzie Brew House
This pub serves its own Wicked Will’s Pale Ale, Black Lab Stout, Unicorn Amber and Shane’s Gold, made by brewer Scott Morrison, who specializes in Belgian beer.
Nodding Head Brewery and Restaurant
This brewery is in the heart of Center City, and has won many awards for its beer, including its Grog and Golden Ale.
Sly Fox Beer
This brewery is located in Chester County and has had phenomenal success since its launch in 1994. It runs two brew pubs, one in Phoenixville and one in Royersford. The Pikeland Pils has earned a gold medal.
Yard’s Brewing Company
Also established in 1994, this brewery is housed in the old Weisbrod and Hess Oriental Brewing Company. They produce five different beers, including such interesting beers as Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale and General Washington Tavern Porter. In addition, they brew several beers seasonally.

Open in 2007, The Hatfield Aquatic Center is enjoying its second season in 2008. The Hatfield Aquatic Center is a great place to take your family for a relaxing experience on a sunny summer day. Why not load up your Toyota vehicle today and come on down?
The Hatfield Aquatic Center has a number of interesting features for kids of all ages. Maybe you want to relax in the hydrotherapy pool, or just float along on the Lazy river. If action is more your style, maybe you’ll want to go on one of the water slides, the drop slide, or the diving boards. Smaller children may especially enjoy the Whale Sprayground and the water castle.
There are a variety of membership plans available for the Hatfield Aquatic Center. You can purchase those memberships either at the Center, or at the Hatfield Aquatic Center web site. Membership gives you a number of bonuses. They include things such as pre-season and post-season activities, a discounted rate on swimming and diving instruction, opportunities for SCUBA and kayaking, one day a week when only members and their paying guests are allowed, Monday evening “Family Frolic,” and even an ice cream social sponsored by Starbucks.
If your child has an interest in competitive swimming, she can look into joining the Hatfield Sharks. The Hatfield Sharks Swimming and Diving Team is a competitive team experience for children from the age of 6 to 18. The team is open to members of the Center only.
You can also schedule a “Splash Party” at the Hatfield Aquatic Center. Parties can take place during public hours, and are relatively inexpensive. You’ve come to your local Pennsylvania Toyota dealers and you’ve picked out your perfect new Toyota car or truck. You’re ready to hit the road, but where do you go with so many choices? If you’re looking for some fun in the sun this summer, take a nature lover’s day trip to Cumberland County for a little bit of heaven in your own back yard.
While there’s something to do in every season in Cumberland County, summer is where this little paradise really comes to life. With seven golf courses, forests, mountains and the beautiful Susquehanna River, there’s something for everyone just a short drive away from pretty much anywhere in Pennsylvania.
For water lovers, summer’s the best time for a canoeing or kayaking trip. Pack a picnic in the trunk of your new Toyota car and spend the day with your family in the sun. If you like to fish or you’d like to learn, try a fly fishing class in Boiling Springs’ Yellow Breeches Fly Fishing School.
For land lovers, the young or young at heart can head down to Kings Gap State Park to take an orienteering class, or just take a hike. Summertime means farm country is in action and you’ll have fun sharing country roads with everything from horse and buggy combs to working tractors. At the end of your day of fun in the sun, you can hop back in the car for a quick drive home or set up camp in one of Cumberland County’s state parks.
As summer comes to a close, Cumberland County becomes the destination of choice for nature lovers and bird watchers. The days stay warm long after Labor Day, so head down to Waggoner’s Gap -- recently acquired by the Audobon Society -- and see more than 20,000 hawks and raptors set up shop for the autumn.
The nights are getting warmer and the days are getting longer. It’s time for fun in Philly this summer, and what better way to take in the sights and sounds of the city than in your new Toyota vehicle? If you’re looking for fun things to do in the city this summer, here are some great ideas to get you started.
Run away and join the circus.
For those of you who have always wanted to be a lion tamer, take a shot at wearing clown shoes or fly through the air on a trapeze, now’s your chance. The Philadelphia School of Circus Arts -- a place where wannabe circus performers come to learn from miles around -- is the first place to go for your circus education. There are free performances throughout the summer, as well as circus classes for both kids and adults. The only question left to ask here is how many clowns CAN you fit into a Toyota?
Let the kids be kids.
Childhood should be a time of fun, excitement and lots and lots of laughter, and there’s no better place to be a kid than Philly this summer. Here are some of the highlights:
- Channel your inner Jasmine at Disney’s Aladdin Jr. Show at the Media Theater for the Performing Arts. Go soon because it’s only there until June 25th.
- Middle school kids have the chance to come and hang out with other children their age at an age appropriate dance party at Sesame Place. The only theme park in the country based on Sesame Street is inviting kids to attend the Friday Night Series. They can spend time with their friends, enter dance contests for cool prizes, and listen to the DJ play music all night while being totally supervised by the Sesame Place Security team.
- Don’t miss the Touch It museum, where kids of all ages can take steps into the nation’s past and delve into the life of early Americans. They can try out all sorts of tools and items that were held in the stores, parlors, and kitchens of homes and businesses from eras past. Kids can interact with museum exhibits, get involved in an interactive theater performance, and play, play, and play some more throughout the museum.
