Take, for example, The Khyber, located in the middle of 2nd Street. This is a charmingly gritty bar, and a wonderful place to get a burger and some fries, enjoy a microbrewed beer, and watch a live act.
Another great budget place for your night out is National Mechanics. This pub is known for its quirky decorations and it’s gastropub-esque menu. Here you can get a gourmet burger or a wonderful salad, again without emptying your wallet.
From there, you can go over to Race Street Café. This quiet spot is located at the edge of Old City, and offers pub grub and a range of brews. Their late night menu features specials for right around five bucks or so.
If you want less quiet, visit Triumph Brewing Company. Beer takes center stage here, of course, and you’ll find affordable European-style grub.
