Take Your Toyota to Allentown
Do you need a place to go this weekend in your Toyota? Consider a visit to Allentown, PA.
Allentown has plenty to see, and is one of the most historic cities in Pennsylvania. Whether you drive your Toyota down the streets of Old Allentown to look at the restored Victorian-style homes, or whether you take the walking tour downtown, you’re guaranteed to enjoy your visit.
Downtown, at the corner of Hamilton and Fifth Streets in Allentown, you’ll find the Lehigh County Historical Society, library and museum. You’ll also find the Old Lehigh County Court House. Right across the road you’ll see the new U.S. Federal Court House, and its memorial to Vietnam veterans.
The Beinig and Bachman Building, or B&B for short, is just up the street. You can see gargoyle animal heads atop this building, gazing down at the streets. Also in this region is the Americus Hotel, named by the famed explorer Amerigo Vespucci. From there you can visit Allentown Symphony hall, the Liberty Bell Shrine, and Zion’s Reformed United Church of Christ.
There are plenty of other sights to see downtown. Not too far away is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, dedicated originally to the 47th Pennsylvania Volunteers who fought alongside Sheridan in the Civil War. You can also see the satellite offices of Kutztown University as well as Lehigh Carbon Community College.
